During the chase, Lamachi returns and kills Jonathan using Gidgiddonihah's blade.Chris Heimerdinger: Tennis Shoe Adventure series: The Sacred Quest - Paperback Jim, who was faking his seduction, gets up and flees from Jonathan. After Lamachi leaves, Jonathan goes to kill Jim. As Lamachi wakes, Jonathan scolds him for abandoning the Gadianton organization and declares his intentions to kill everyone in their band of adventurers. Jonathan, while arguing with Gidgiddonihah, pulls out his blowpipe and shoots poison darts to sedate Gidgiddonihah and Jim. Jonathan ops to kill Lamachi right then and there, but Gidgiddonihah tries to talk him out of it.
Unfortunately, Jonathan and Gidgiddonihah find Lamachi first and knock him unconcious. When the group stops in Sidom, Lamachi confesses his innocence to Harry, talks him into setting him free, and sets a rendezvous with his father. Since Lamachi has been acting suspicious the whole trip, everyone suspects him to he the killer and decides to take him to be executed. Unbeknownst to anyone aside from Lamachi, it was actually Jonathan who killed Naaman, through the use of his poison-tipped blow darts. One morning, the group wakes up to find Naaman dead. They are joined by Jim's son Harry, who followed them out of fear of losing his father. Jonathan, along with Jim, Zedekiah the elder, Naaman the tracker, Gidgiddonihah the warrior, and Lamachi the freshly converted Gadianton, set out on their mission to Jacobugath after the exodus of Zarahemla. Jonathan is one of the people that the prophet Nephi gathers to assist Jim Hawkins on his quest to rescue his daughter Melody. He is revealed to be a Gadianton agent who was in charge of Lamachi before Lamachi was converted to Christianty.
